Leather keepers used on Full cheek or FM bits to help keep the cheeks upright and at the right position. One side of the FM Keeper threads onto the cheek piece of the bridle while the other loops over the top side bar of the bit.

Their use increases pressure on the bars and the corner of the mouth.
